Regrets
I had RNY in 2001 as a revision. I have only gained 20 lbs since but worried about gaining more. Tests show my pouch still small and in tact, I feel restriction. On Thursday, I had hernia repair and my surgeon says he bypassed to 150 cm for more malabsorption. He says this should allow me to lose the addtl weight. I believe this makes me a RNY-Distal. Im at 250, my goal is 200. My lowest was 229.
I had RNY in 2002, and I am looking into doing a revision to DS.
I was 307, but 298 my day of surgery, and I lost all the way down to 151. I had not been 151 since 4th or 5th grade!!!!
I am now hovering around 230. I have been seeing a doctor every month, with a supervised weight-loss program & phentermine, but, I am so scared to gain back the 10 pounds I have taken off since January.

I am a distal RNY'er who is revising to a DS. I started at 430ish almost 11 years ago and lost to around 210 pounds and remained there for about 3-4 years. Then I started gaining weight and am currently 295. My BIG goal is to lose 150 lbs and to be 145-150 lbs, but I'd be happy to simply be below 200 lbs. As a previously SMO person even with a distal RNY I never was going to make it to goal, but I'm hoping that with a revision to DS I'll get damned close.
My pouch still seems small (not as small as when I first had my RNY), and I know that I must malabsorb some things because I have to go for iron infusions twice a week right now. I did not have an endoscopy so I don't know if my stoma is too big or what, however, when I did and Upper GI the barium flowed switfly (sailed more like it) right out of my pouch. I read a lot and got a lot of information from the doctor who informed me that a band might work, but not to lose 150 lbs. With a A ROSE (stoma fix) procedure he said that weight loss averages about 25 pounds and not much more. Dr. G said that I'd likely be most successful with a DS.
