Hi Diane,

So funny to see your post regarding UHC.....I just talked with the customer care co-ordinater at UHC to check on the Morbid Obesity surgery coverage.
     My policy covers it....requirments are

1  Nurse fax them weight, height, BMI, Co-morbidies
2  Previous non surgical treatments of obesity
3  Documetaion of 5 yr history of obesity.

That is all that I know so far.....but I am sure it depends on your policy.

Best of luck,

Marcia

I have UHC and was approved super fast for my revision.  I visited my doctor on May 1st and was called two weeks later saying I was approved for surgery on May 27th.

I was in shock, I could not believe I was approved that quickly.  The first time around it took me almost a year to get everything together.

I also was not asked to do any testing.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Thanks so much  for your reply, I hope it will be that easy for me. I never had any problem getting approved for my RNY  I actually recieved my approval within 7 days, so I hope it goes just as well this time.

Thanks again

My policy covered WLS....and I was approved after 1 denial.

Only had 3 things I had to meet:

1) over 21
2) BMI over 40 for past 5 years (doctor documented)
3) Currently BMI over 40

I was only denied the 1st time because they didn't see my 5 year weight history.  So after Ellen refaxed the info, with neon signs, and arrows flashing pointing to the info, the decision was overturned and BINGO.  I picked my date!

I've heard many people say UHC was easy peasy.  Hope your experience is the same!  But it really depends on your actual policy.

Edited to add: No testing, no physc required!
