Hi all,

I am new to the message board but wanted to know if anyone that is 7 years out from there RNY has experienced abdominal pain and have difficulty eating anything it takes for ever to eat I have to stop and let my stomach settle before I can eat any more I feel like I am going to toss what I just ate  and when I am really really hungery I get a abdomial pain all across my stomach area and back.

The doctors have checked me for gall bladder issues and liver issues nothing.  The next step is an open exploritory surgery and the doctor suggested that when they are in there they could do a revision.

I have only lost like 50 pounds from my first surgery nothing much and am still considered in the morid obese range.

Would like to know if any one that has Traditional Anthem insurance has had any luck getting a revision covered.  And if anyone else has had these kind of issues and what you had luck with.

Thanks
tbeary

Have you been checked or endoscopied to check for an ulcer? I am almost 11 year RNY'er and around year one I started having terrible stomach pains. Turns out I have a marginal ulcer. I take 40mg of Nexium everyday and have been for 10 years.

I am 5yo out from VBG.. I started having problems, taking forever to eat food and not being able to drink liquids for an hour or more after I ate.. started constant dumping of anything I ate.  I saw my surgeon and was referred for a CT.  The CT determined that I have blockage at my band.  I was then referred by my surgeon for an endoscopy with dilation to try and move the scar tissue that was forming around my band out of the way and clear the opening so that I could eat again.

After 3 failed attempts I am now going back to see my surgeon for plan B which is surgery, for me he said that he would ONLY do the bypass, so I see him on July 15th to get my surgery date and go back for revision.

Check with your doctor and exhaust other things before going back for surgery.  Find out if it's possible to have blockage that is causing you to dump.

I lost almost 100lbs since surgery and then stopped, I believe that was when my trouble started.. I have since gained anywhere from 15-20lbs of it back and have resumed my bad (comfort) eating habits prior to surgery (living on pepsi, as it's the only thing that stay's down and cure's that "sugar" fix i crave).

not sure it will help you, but any and all info in some capacity is good! :)

good luck!
