Roz, have you had the ROSE procedure? If not, why are you promoting it? If so, when and what are your results thus far? Thanks. Maureen

That's all she posts, that the Rose procedure is great.  She posts it to the point that OH removes her posts.  She does offer support and as I recall, for a fee.  But I could be wrong.  I'd have to go back to the website she had on her profile.  A few of us suspect she is only here to promote her website considering she really offers nothing but Rose information.

Might be why she is declining to respond to you even though you have asked her twice now. ;o)

Ah, Janie if only it were this easy... I have it in my mind every single day to be successful with making healthy eating choices and moving my body in a manner that will keep it physically fit and strong - but I'm gaining.  Like you, I am passionate about each of us finding ways that work for us so that we can reverse the trends of regain after our initial surgeries. But doctors are promoting surgeries that cost a lot of money (typically self-pay) that simply do not work. What works best??? Expending more energy through physical exertion (exercise) and ingesting less energy (calories) through very strict eating choices. It's not rocket science. And it's very, very difficult to do successfully, especially for people who have spent entire lifetimes coping with emotional eating - eating to sooth negative emotions. I wish everyone the best - but I stand by my conviction that these endoscopic procedures do not work long term. Best, Maureen

Lisa, I so understand where you are - you got down to a weight that you felt comfortable with, that you were proud of; and now you've gained enough of that weight back that has you feeling very scared and desperate to find a way to turn things around for yourself. No matter what, I wish you luck - but please be very neutral in what you decide - for instance, the link that Roz sent to you about the woman who lost 50 lbs. with the ROSE procedure - it's interesting to me that she is an employee of the hospital where this doctor performs the ROSE procedure - that is not neutral promotion. It is also interesting that she talks about her "cute" new body that she loves to buy new clothes for - but they never show her full length frame, the entire interview is done with just her face being shown. Sorry for my suspicion but this video short seems to me to be nothing more than a promotion - like a commercial - for the hospital and the surgeon. I truly wish you well - but I do not have any faith in these procedures. Best, Maureen

That's the beauty of it all...You don't have to have any faith in it! Lisa is the one who needs the faith....she is the one doing it!

That being said:

Lisa is looking for something that is non invasive and will help jump start her weight loss....If she wants to pay the money....I say go for it....If I had the money I might try for a little restriction myself....And yes, this procedure hasn't been proven long term....and long term to me is at least 20 years of stats!

Only the RNY has those kinds of stats to this point because relatively speaking WLS is new! compared to other health care procedures. And from what I hear coming down the pike there is much promise for the endoscopic procedures. It only stands to reason that it will get better as they perfect....for that to happen....someone has to have it done!

So....I say Lisa....learn all you can, about all procedures....when it's all said and done you can say you did your best.

And by the way Maureen are you aware of what the success rate stats are for RNY? Anyone and I mean anyone, can fail any procedure if they don't buckle down and get it right. That's why were all on this site afterall....it's about revisions...

Hi Maureen:

Thank you for your opinion (I was already well aware of it however since I had read pretty much every thread on this subject and your posts to OH members & doctors were on each thread).  Actually, in this instance you are incorrect inasmuch as the video shows her walking down the street talking to the news reporter and it is a full shot.  Also, see above postings as there is another link to a YouTube video from BlueGrass Barriactrics which has 2 different ROSE patients that had positive results.  While I couldn't inspect them head-to-toe I have to trust they are providing accurate testimony as to their own experiences.

Sure, it is a form of advertisement and promotion, but I see WLS commercials daily on TV for GBP surgery or LB procedures not only for breakthrough treatments.  For instance, my RNY surgeon Dr. Laurence Tanaka of Pacific Barriatrics, who has done THOUSANDS of WLS' over the last 2 decades still advertises on TV for his WLS seminars to this day (feel free to look at his profile).  Furthermore, I have seen numerous posts on here from his patients saying how great he is and recommending newbies to go to his seminars.  People promote services & products inadvertently on OH by way of simply responding to posts.  How is that wrong?

ISN'T ADVERTISING & PROMOTION PAR FOR THE COURSE WHEN IT COMES TO EXPANDING YOUR BUSINESS OR NEW PRODUCT OF ANY SORT??? ISN'T A REVISION WLS FORUM THE PERFECT MEDIUM FOR DOING SO?

I mean seriously...commercials are aired constantly for every type of drug under the sun as well as breakthrough procedures/products for back problems, treating asthma, acne solutions, weight loss programs...I really could go on and on.  "Ask your doctor if _________ is right for you" is a staple quote these days.  Do you disregard all of those advertisements because the testimonials are  in support of a particular product...even though it may not have worked for some people, especially in the introductory stages?

I understand your personal experiences have caused frustration as demonstrated through your posts.   I too am frustrated with my situation and that is why I am keeping an open mind to all possible resolutions since I am not a candidate for any invasive procedures.  If I see video testimonials for 3 patients that have made this procedure a success....I look forward to becoming the 4th...and you better believe that I will be promoting the procedure with pride to people seeking revision alternatives when I do. POSITIVE-POSITIVE-POSITIVE!

Thanks again for your input!

Hi Lisa, I only wish to say at this point best of luck to you - honestly, I will be dancing on the tabletop to learn that this has worked for you and I so hope it does.  I look forward to learning of your success - and I would ask that you read my post response to Janie to better clarify where I'm coming from. Be well, Maureen

True, but amazingly - they PAY for the advertising.  Your buddy CoachRoz is here only to get free advertising from a support board.  That's unethical, it is also unethical to try to sell a procedure that has such a horrible success rate.

And btw, please suggest to her that she age her other iDs a bit so it's not quite so obvious what she is doing.  (wink wink nudge nudge)
