ROSE Procedure
Meanwhile, I've gained 20 lbs back (but have managed to keep the gain at that level for awhile now), and am open for any suggestions on how to get rid of it. Foot problems are preventing me from enjoying my favorite activity (walking). But I bought a nice bike and have been trying to get as much ride time as I can. Unfortunately, that same foot injury has made even biking difficult.
So. my question is: Did you work your way through your weight gain via the ROSE procedure, or did you do something else? I'd love to get your advice.
Hi Lisa! I checked out your blog, and think you are amazing! A trip to Mexico is not in my budget, and I just found out my Medi-Cal "share of cost" is being increased. So I don't see myself being able to afford revision surgery any time soon. But I do believe in miracles, and maybe there's one waiting for me.
Meanwhile, I re-assessed my situation. Took a good long look at what I was doing, what I should be doing, and what I CAN do. Walking -- which is how I lost my pre-surgery weight (19½ lbs. in 2 weeks) -- isn't always an option. Some days, my feet hurt so bad I can barely stand up.
Biking isn't always an option either, for the same reason (it hurts to push the pedals). But there are other things that I CAN do. My husband and I bought an Ab Lounge at a church rummage sale. I tried that, and found that I can do it with no problem.
I can also eat less, and drink more water. I find that if I include fruits and veggies in my daily menu, I actually feel fuller with less food intake. I've been doing this for a week so far and have already lost 3 lbs. This is good, and I believe I will succeed. I have also decided to stop seeing myself as a wls failure. I didn't fail. I just got stalled out in trying, and now it's time to get back on the road.
I keep a handwritten food journal/log and find that it really helps to keep me on my toes. I know this much...when I write down "cottage cheese & slice of tomato," I feel a whole lot better at that moment than when I have to write "chocolate cupcake." Now I get it...eating healthy makes me feel great and bad choices make me feel crappy inside. Even though nobody sees my journal but me, I still feel embarrassed for some reason.
Some people take it day-by-day, but I have to take it meal-by-meal. Some people prefer & utilize an online food journal, but I do much better with the hard copy in my purse and having to add up the totals at the end of the day on my own gives me a sense of responsibility and more gratification when I do well. It has kept me really motivated to keep eating well for some reason and I have promised myself that I will do this for at least 1 year. If after that I feel comfortable enough to trust myself to make better choices "off of paper," I will quit at that time. Maybe I'll have to journal forever...who knows?
I found it at Barnes & Noble in the Diet section. It is called the "DietMinder Personal Food & Fitness Journal" by MemoryMinder Journals.
Anyhow, there is always hope...don't give up now!! :)
Take care.
WOW! SAD! Anyway, amen to you! You said it "Go for it", if it's right for you because sometimes we need a second chance at change.
Hope you are great and continue to thrive!

If you want to ask me more, please feel free to join the Beat Weight Regain with ROSE member group or contact me off the public discussion boards!
If you're struggling with weight regain, I hope you also look into getting support, too. Join an OH support group or return to your surgical center. When I regained weight I realized that there was something behind me overeating and underexercising. I had to deal with that, too, as I lost weight.
Much love,
Coach Roz
