I obviously want a revision since im on this board, and I'm full of questions. I had a baby 11 months ago today, Since finding out i was pregnant ive gained about 50lbs. been struggling to loose it but my matabolism is shot.  I started at 260 got down to 140, but at only 4ft 9 my bmi is still over 40.

I saw my sergeon he did upper gi and barium swallow found out i had a fistula and an enlarged pouch. I had my fistula fixed, been seing a nutritionist but not loosing weight. but I'm thankfull since having my fistula fixed i have not gained anymore.

I see my sergeon on wed, its been 3 months and he wanted me to get back on track, loose some weight on my own but its not working!  I asked him about a revision and he said "lets get the fistula fixed and see you back in three months"

I want him to do a revision but he seems reluctant. I'm confident that i meet aetnas requirements, but wonder if my doctor is going to be willing.

anyone else know where im coming from?

Most all of us on this Forum know where your coming from.  When I first began researching a revision with my Dr...he was like a revision, you had Weight Loss Surgery why would you want a revision? That's the mentality of the Dr.'s in the state where I live...Needless to say I started my research and that has been 2 years ago, with many other surgeons...

I go in for revision on May 20th...to an ERNY....Fortunately for those folks who have good insurance or cash there are many options out there and just as many Dr.s willing to give you a revision...The trick here is picking the right revision and the right surgeon because not all surgeons do revisions day in an day out....Some only get 1 or 2 a month while some Dr.s do 1 a day.

Find a Revision Specialist....the moment your Dr. seems hesitant about revision it's normally because their not comfortable doing them because they are more risky....

You are researching in the right place and the following is a list of the types of revisions they are giving RNY patients...

RNY to DS
RNY to ERNY
Band over RNY
RNY to Vergito

There are a few endoluminal procedures but frankly there not well proven as yet...although I understand that coming down the pike these procedures will get better.

Feel free to PM or ask more questions...Sounds like your just getting started and it's definately a journey...

Revisions are harder and riskier than virgin surgeries, so you should find a surgeon that is known as a good revision surgeon. Even if your surgeon was willing and able, you really want one who's got the experience in revisions.
