I came through my surgery ok, but my blood sugar is high after surgery. I'm not diabetic.  They have given me two insulin shots so far and I was just wondering if you have any ideas why this would be happening. Thanks.

Hi Shele:

I'm so glad your surgery went well. I wish I had information for you regarding your blood sugar...I hate being one of those people who post with nothng to say, but wanted you to know I'm thinking about you, and happy your surgery part is over.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

Shele,
This is not uncommon for your blood sugars to get out of wack with anesthesia.  It does wreak havoc with your body.  They will take care of everything for you, you will be fine.

It will probably settle down soon.
My Dad has different surgery, on his spleen, and ended up on insulin for a few days after surgery. He wasn't a diabetic either. He did develope diabetes years later, unrelated to anything else.
