Upper GI test done today, I have a question

I had a barium swallow and upper GI x-rays done today.
I had stomach stapling 19 yrs ago.

The radiologist said he could not tell that I had any surgery at all,  no staples, no mesh, no nothing,   is this normal???

Thanks,  D..............

I'm doubting its normal, I thought stapling actually involved staples!

At least they can't say its in your head now...Can you get your hands on your old surgery notes perhaps? Techniques change over the years and it might explain things for your revision surgeon (not that there sounds like he'll have much to revise)

Thanks Sal for your response,

My records are gone,,  hospital gone so is surgeon.  I tried locating them to no avail.

I'm waiting to see what Dr. Jossart thinks when he gets the report.

I've heard staples can resolve, dont know it to be true, but if your stomach streched and the staples desolved then it makes sense they can't tell you had surgery looking at teh Upper GI...just a thought to ponder.
Good Luck!

i had a rny 12 years ago and am now going to have a revision.
when the upper g.i. was done for the revision there weren't many staples left and the bottom part was pretty much apart. so, you can see i had the rny but much of it was gone.
