Here I go AGAIN !

I am taking my first steps towards getting a revision, I had LAPRNY in
early 2002, I was 376, went down to 155 and no matter what I couldn't
get below that. I'm now 285 due to anti-depressants and such. I've been
seriously dieting for the last year on an all raw diet, and I can't
seem to lose more than 15-20 lbs. So my question is what are the steps
I should take ? I'm looking for a step by step summary. With my first
surgery I went to go see my surgeon, he put me on xenical for two
months, I gained a pound and we set a surgery date, also, I was self
pay. I now have Harvard Pilgrim and am very hopeful. Any reply or
advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ! Jade

So sorry to hear about your weight gain. You must feel awful.

The first thing I would do is get on the internet and look up the 'eligiblities' for a revision.

Second, I'd sit down and make a list of my co-morbidities - sleep apnea, hypertension, diabetes, etc.

Third, I would get in touch with my insurance company, tell them of your co-morbidities and problems with your weight and wls and make certain they cover a revision.

Fourth, once you find out you are eligible and your insurance covers revision I'd go to my primary care doctor with a list of the tests/clearances I need to have done and start getting those out of the way.

Fifth, start searching for a bariatric doctor. When you find one you are interested in fax him your clearances along with a letter explaining your situation and let him review your case. With a revision a doctor can determine whether or not to do it by looking at your UGI and your endoscopy. But the more clearances you have done the better your case will read to him. Select several bariatric doctors to check out and make a choice.

Good luck

I just had a lap band placed over my old bypass at Tufts in Boston.  You could start by seeing your doctor and asking him for some options.

Good luck!
