Any Sleeve to Bypass Patients Out There?

I recently posted thinking of doing the band over the sleeve.  I have decided against that, but saw my doctor today and am now seriously thinking about doing the bypass.  I am no longer loosing weight after 6 months post op sleeve and can eat quite a bit. Since Sunday I ahve been reducing my carbs and still no weight loss (but at least Id id not gain anything either). I want to loose about 50-60 more lbs and my doctor thinks the bypass is the way to do it!

Has anyone had the bypass after a sleeve?  If so, please share your expierences!  The doctor says if I have it on a Thursday, I can be back to work by early the following week (my work is not strenuous). He also mentioned something about leaving the pouch fairly large as though I do not wish to loose too much at one time

Hello Marisa
If your doctor said he is going to leave a fairly large pouch - it sounds to me as if he didn't make it small enough in the first place. Do you have any idea what size it is?
Are you going to convert to the RnY or the DS or Mini Bypass?
Lotsaluff                    Thank you Lord for this incredible gift!! I love you!!!

yes, he used a 40 bougie.  i saw the x ray..with a barium swallow and as it went down it actually looked smaller than my esophogus.  Then I saw it rest in what he called the muscle which was pretty big!

Why in the world would he suggest an RNY when you are half way to the DS?  The most common "revision" to the VSG is the intestinal re-routing to complete the DS.  If you want something that's going to work, especially since you are a revision and are going under the knife yet again, why not choose something that you KNOW is going to work?  There are very experienced revision surgeons out there - Dr. Rabkin, Dr. Husted, Dr. Anthone just to name a few.  Please, please, please do your research before you commit to going under the knife again.  I've never heard of anyone going from VSG to RNY.  Doesn't mean it hasn't happened, but I don't think it's all that common.  Perhaps get a second opinion, because revisions oh-so-suck.  Trust me, I know!  Good luck to you.

I will continue to do my research, but he said a DS would cause me to loose at least 80 lbs when all i want is about 50 more. He said going to the bypass would be quite simple since Im almost there with the sleeve.

Hi again, Marisa.  Please consult with an experienced revision surgeon.  The amount you will lose once you revise to the DS depends on the amount of intestines bypassed.  A doctor can always give you a longer common channel, which is what happens with a lot of "lightweights."  Again, I've never heard of a sleeve being revised to a RNY.  That makes no sense!
