Any point in revision if you're a constant grazer!
My question is this....Is it worth trying for some type of revision if I'm a constant grazer? I know that my regain is totally my own fault. I am totally addicted to Wegman's brand sugar free fudgies. I eat at least one full box (of 10 fudgies) every day. They are 80 calories each, so that's 800 calories a day just from the fudgies. When I try not to eat them I go through a type of withdrawal--shaking, headaches etc. The other thing I graze on is Cheese Curls. They go down so darn easy. I haven't been able to stop the grazing. I'm not always hungry, but I've fallen back into my poor eating habits. I had RNY surgery, but I don't dump from sugar (except it makes me sleepy). I have been eating such garbage anymore.
I know people are going to say just try to lose it on your own, but I wasn't able to do that before my RNY so how can I do it now????
I'm thinking of having the Rose procedure or the one that causes the scar tissue around your stoma.
Sorry that I'm so down and negative, but this has really gotten me depressed. Oh, I went to therapy for 2 1/2 years, but had to discontinue when I got a full time job & could no longer go in the daytime. It helped a little, but wasn't the cure all to my problem.
Stopping the grazing is what you must do. The ROSE proceedure won't make you stop grazing. Nor any other proceedure. You may need therapy more than anything else.

My question to you is; is your doctor suggesting the ROSE or Schelatherapy (sp?)? These are procedures to revise a stretched pouch or a stretched stoma. Why would one of these help with your grazing? Have you had the upper GI and EGD tests to determine the condition of your pouch and stoma?
Instead of stopping "cold turkey" maybe you should try cutting back each day until you have eliminated your problem food(s). I could help with the withdraws symptoms.
I hope things start turning around for you so that you can start feeling better about yourself again.
Thank you for your reply. I know exactly what I should do, but just like before my surgery--I can't seem to do it. I wish I had stopped when it was only 5-10 lbs, but I thought it was just a small gain. I tried to convince myself that it was just my bounce back weight. I know 30 lbs is NOT bounce back--it's bad eating habits.
I have tried to cut back several different times...I can do it for 2 or 3 days and then I'm right back into the sugar & carbs. I have finally realized that I am a true addict...sugar and carbs are my drug of choice.
I work in a psychiatric hospital and I know all about depression, anxiety and addictions, but I still continue on my wayward path. I know that none of the revisions will help with my grazing, but I thought I'd put it out there and maybe someone knew a magical cure.
Who knows, maybe tomorrow I will feel different and get back on track.

Don't start down the path of I wish I had stopped when I weighed. You have to stop now. Something is going on in your life or within yourself that is creating a need to eat. Its not working or you wouldn't need to continue to consume these items. I play mind games with myself. The candy or sweet I crave has not been discontinued. Its still available so I can put off eating it.
In the mean time. Lets start today. Cut back to half of what you're eating. Set specific times that you will eat the pieces. Go back to eating small meals. Write down what you're planning to eat for the next few days. Next to your list, write down what you actually eat. Review and revise. Above all don't give up. Take one day at a time. Go back to exercising. Agree to exercise 10-15 minutes every time you eat a piece of candy or corn curls. If you eat, you have to agree to walk, jog, bike, or walk up stairs as an exchange for eating.

Sweetie I know of the struggle you are going through. I have gained 65 lbs back myself since my original wls. I love carbs myself and have struggled with them all my life! It is not an easy thing to contend with. It took me years to over come the brunt of them and even today I struggle with it. I know that one bite can send me into weeks of bingeing. I am always conscious of it and I come to realize it will be my struggle for my entire life. I go through periods where I slip.
You might want to try the "5 day pouch test". You can google it to find the website. This plan is meant to get you back on track and it is very high in protein each day. If you can commit yourself to just 5 days maybe it can help break the cycle. I went on it a few months back and it actually helped me loose a few pounds in the process. At 30 you may still be able to get it turned around.

A lot of DSers find their tastes change after the op - I couldn't manage a box of anything sweet without barfing now. I can't take sugar alcohol in sugar-free stuff either - just the little bit in cough medicine this week meant I spent a long time on the toilet.
Starchy carbs also give me awful gas - quite stinky and anti-social, so I stay away from them at least during the week. I still graze, but its more on protein and fat, which are ok for DSers - if you can replace the sweets and cheese curls with nuts and popcorn you'd be ok. Only you can tell if you could live with this though

I don't know enough about revision to answer your questions here - others have more knowledge and experience. However, I think as well as reading these replies it is probably worth talking to a doctor who specialises in revisions to see what they say.
I hope you find the answers you are looking for, either by a revision or other methods. As one person has already said, start now - before you say I wish I had done something when I had only gained 30 pounds and have 100 pounds to lose at that point. You ONLY have 30 pounds to lose - yes, it's more than you'd like, but far less than 100 pounds.
