From RouxNY to Lap band???

Hi yall, my name is Kellie and i frequent the Texas board as a lurker. I had rouxny on Oct 31.2006. I went to my surgeon today for my two year follow up. In the last year i have gained 7.8 lbs, but have not lost any more than 123 lbs total in the three years since i began the process. Here is my question. Have any of you gone from having the rouxny to a lap band revision afterward and what were the results? I will certainly admit that i dont make the most wise food choices and i dont exercise regulary. I know that i sabatoged myself in the begining by figuring out that i could tolerate sugar. That being said, i am not sure that i would not fail with the lap band as a revision, knowing that is why i didnt choose the band in the first place, for fear that i wouldnt do as i should with it. Any help, suggestions, concerns etc would be great at this point.

Thanks for listening and any feed back i get.

 Hi Kellie,

Some doctors will not do band over pouch.  Some will.  I guess a little investigation on your part may be necessary if you choose to go that route.  ;-)  If you have concerns about be able to be compliant then I am not sure I would try another procedure until I was sure I could be.  I might also suggest the "5 day pouch test" first to see if it can jump start you again and get you on the right track.  You can google it and it should bring you to the website.

Good Luck to you.

Thanks for responding, and the suggestions. I am going to do the 5 day pouch test starting on Monday. I am not real thrilled about the revision, and you are right about the compliant thing. I have done the 5 day pouch test in the past and it does work very well. Again thanks for responding.

I will be having a band placed over my old bypass on 12/10.  In many cases people are quite successful with this.  I sure hope and pray that I am one of them, and I'm willing to put my all into it.  After all, not everyone gets a 2nd chance.

Kellie, I love my revision to the band but from what your saying I don't think a band would be the best fit for you.  Have you researched the DS or VSG?
