Revision from band to gastric bypass--came out with sleeve!

I went in on the 15th for gastric bypass and lap band removal.  That morning my doctor said he kept thinking about our talk of a sleeve (which is what he preferred but ins. said no).  He asked me if I would rather do the sleeve laproscopically or do the open gastric. I told him the sleeve but was concerned about insurance.  He said your preapproval was for a bariatric revision--no specification as to what kind.  So we went ahead.  I got out of the hospital today and am doing fine.  Feel really lucky not to have had open surgery. My doctor said he would fight with my insurance if they should decide to deny being they were not specific as to which procedure they were approving.  I am so grateful and look forward to my new journey with the sleeve!
