Hi Tabitha.

I can't remember if he specifically said RNY to DS revisions, as I just asked for revisions. I do know that he has done a lot, but just ask him, he will give you specifics. He is very easy to talk to. Also he told me that he'd never lost a revision, which eased my mind. He did say complications are fairly common, but they range from skin irritation to the more dangerous complications. I have faith in him, obviously.

When do you think you will get your phone consultation? Actually, the first time I talked to him was over the phone, as I was here in KY and he was still out in CA. He takes his time on the phone also, so have your questions ready!!

Good luck!

We are a lot alike then, I have NO patience.....Have you been to www.johnhustedmd.com? There is a section on the forum there called "Ask Dr. Husted." You can always go ask there. Looks like he answers quickly also!!

Any idea when your phone consult will be?

Angela: Have no recieved any notifications from Lori in regard to you.  If you come through Commonwealth Bariatric Center for your surgery, you will have to attend a seminar and I wouldn't feel right otherwise.

TIme is precious for all of us as is gas money, but...a revision is a major procedure with slightly more risk involved as any second surgery would be. You were educated as a bypass patient not a revision patient. I personally, as a WLS patient with a gastric bypass would never consider having a revision without the latest information available.  Wo wants to go for a possible third procedure later down the road?  Make sure you know what you are getting yourself in to and that you are selecting the best tool now available for you. The best way to do this is to attend the seminar, meet the staff and make sure you feel comfortable with the people you are marrying for life!  LOL

I'll certainly be there and would love to meet all of you.

Number of DS I can't answer as Dr, HUsted is attending a seminar out of town and I have known him for about a month! I k now he has done approx. 1500 procedures but do not know the breakdown as I don;t have his data. I will find out and get back to you on that, unless he or his San Francisco person replies beforehand.

Please email me direct if I can be of further assistance to any of you.

Just wanted to say Hello Cathi.  I was one of Dr. Husted's first revision patients when he went to SF and I've done incredibly well and so very happy with my choice of both the DS and Dr. Husted.  I'd do it all over again if I had to.......

 Hello Angela,
Not everyone gets out of going to the seminars. Personally I think they are incredibly valuable. You had a special cir****tance that both you and I agreed was much more important than your going to a seminar "before" your consultation. You can certainly go to one after your consultation. I go almost every month and I always learn something new and I am 6 years post op from my D/S. Also, I was told today that your consult was set up. They were holding the days for you since we knew what days you could come. it just took a few days to get back to you. Not a great excuse but some sort of virus or something has gotten to all 3 of us who work for Dr. Husted.

Dr. Husted told me he will be doing Seminars every Monday from 9-11 am until further notice.
There is one next week even though it is a holiday. I think that you MUST call the office to register for the seminars.

Tabitha,
I saw your posts about which revision surgeon to choose and I didn't feel that it would be appropriate to chime in there since I work for Dr. Husted. I am glad you seem to be choosing Dr. Husted. I don't know any surgeons that do as many revisions on other surgeons' patients as he does. Our practice in California was almost 80% revisions. That's a guess but I'm sure it's pretty accurate.
Please PM me as I spoke to the office today and they said they don't have any knowledge of a phone consultation for someone named Tabitha. There is always a possibility that there is just a communication glitch so I could be incorrect.

That's it from here. I wish you all the best.

Lori

Pepsi:
Yes we will have an accomodation package for those traveling from far away and we will work with you on this as you come through the system.

Starry:
Thanks for taking the time to email me and congrats on your success as a DS. Your pic looks fantastic! If you are ever in Kentucky let me know ahead a time and I'll take you to lunch.  Maybe we can use you for show and tell at one of our informational seminars.

As far as numbers, exact statistics on Dr. Husted procedures I am still working on that. I have seen one set of numbers and am wanting to make sure about a couple of things. However...he's done enough to satisfy ASMBS Center of Excellence requirements and they are very picky. He has to have good patient outcomes to be designated as well.

Myself, Dr. Husted, Ellen  Bell(his Practice Manager and Insurance Specialist)  and Gayla our Patient Services Coordinator met today and will meet weekly to ensure this program runs seamlessly. We are blending two very differant styles of running a bariatric service, based on Dr. Husted's and Ellen's experience, as well as my experience. This recipe should call for SUCCESS! It's not having our patients satified, but very satisfied with our program.

If any of you have any questions, thoughts or concerns, please contact me at:  [email protected] or  [email protected]

I have coordinated many informational seminar dates throughout Kentucky, Tennessee and will consider other states. Contact me if I can set one up for you. OUr new website for Dr. Husted's patients is coming soon. It is currently under construction and due to be completed in the next couple of weeks.  Our site will be monitored by a certified bariatric nurse who just happens to be a WLS patient herself(that would be me!), a bariatric dietican, Ellen the Insurance Specialist, Gayla, our patient services coordinator, a physical therapist, Psychologist and on occasion, Dr. Husted. I'll announce it to his patients soon. Our website address for pics is:   www.CommonwealthBariatricCenter.com

Have a great weekend all.

I am responsible for updating Dr. Husted's statistics and they are pretty accurate.
