so very disappointed!!!

I had several tests done 2 weeks ago to see what the possiblities were of having a revision. My upper GI showed that my food was not only going into my pouch with a small amount going into the small intestine but my stomach had reattached itself and most of my food was going back into my old stomach. I had an EGD done and the surgeon comfirmed that I had a fistula and my small intestine was completely closed off. There is only a smallamount of liquid that can travel thru.Because my pouch is only 2 cc the risks were far to dangerous for me to have a revision as there is not enough of the pouch to work with so I will have to live with this. I was so disappointed. He said its very uncommon for this to happen but it does happen . At least I know why I didn't lose anymore weight than I did. Just a very disappointing day.

I am so sorry for you to have to get that devistationg news after all you have been thru just having the original surgery. Is there anything they can do at all? My prayers are with you.

Thanks so much! I am trying to get my stuff together to get a second opinion from Dr. S. The surgeon I went to was an excellent surgeon. He is one of the very best in the Northwest and has done many revisions.

I'm so sorry!  How can they expect you to live with this?  Can you go to another specialist for a 2nd opinion?  Why don't you send a message to Dr. Schlesinger (a member on this site).  Perhaps he can offer some insight!!  Take care - please let us know how you're doing!  Carolyn
