My Slipped Band Is Coming Out...

Post Date: 8/5/08 8:53 pm Well after all of these months with reflux and now pain in my stomach and surrounding areas - my doctor now says that it looks like my band has slipped... I will need semi-emergency surgery to remove my band. I go back to the doctor on the 19th and he will decide on a day I should go to the emergency room. If it is an emergency then my insurance will have to cover it. Now I can only do liquids and mushies. Anything else is getting stuck in my empty band...  If it gets any worse I have to go to the emergency room right away. Now I can only pray that my external appeal goes my way quickly so that both can be done at once. Other wise I will have to have 2 surgeries - one to remove my band and then another one for the revision to RNY. The state must answer my appeal by August 31st and I may not be able to wait until then. I'm not a happy camper tonight... Marcia 297/216 so far/140 Planning a Revision to RNY myspace layout

Well, FINALLY it seems at least you will get SOME relief! Someone actually started to listen to you! It will be ok, if you cant wait until the 31, get the damned thing out anyway! You should still qualify for another surgery, one chapter at a time!

I wish you the best of luck and I hope your revision surgery is a smashing success. I hate my band as well, but not because of reflux or slippage, but merely because I've struggled to barely lose 50 pounds in 16 months and my doctor and I are beginning to discuss revision to RNY.

Isn't there any way when they take care of your "emergency" they can do a little more cutting & stapling?  Is there a way to pay for 1/2 the surgery...if you win your appeal you could get the $$ back?

If not...I do wish you the best that you get your band out with as little pain and distress as possilble.
