How does a surgeon do a revision from RNY to DS? Mechanically how does it work? Does the surgeon have to revise first the RNY allow you to heal then do the DS or is it all done at once??

Just wondering how complex this operation is..

Katrina,

From what I've heard on these forums this is a very technical and complex surgery.  There are some who have had a form of the DS were the pouch was left alone and the intestines were rerouted.  Look up: Sopralto profile and read her story.  She goes into detail about her revision.  I hope that helps.

Katrina, I just had a revision from a failed RnY from 2000 to a DS. To the best of my knowledge, there are several ways to do this kind of revision, and it all depends on how your doctor did the original surgery.
