esophageal spasms

I had lap band done on 1/16 - this whole week I have had a "choking" sensation in my throat, and it feels as though I have a lump in the back of my throat.  I saw the doctor today, and he ordered an upper GI & barium swallow, but it won't get done until Monday morning.  He said there is a medication that can be used to help with the spasms, but he wants to make sure nothing else is going on. I have heard about esophageal dilation - could this be whats happening?  I've heard this is a reason that the band needs to be removed. Any information would be appreciated.
