open or lap??

Just wondering how many of you out there, had open first time and lap for the revision?? I don't want to be sliced open head to toe again, I'm really hoping he can do it laparoscopic this time.  Tracie

Tracie, I am scheduled for a revision on May 1st!!! (yea) My original surgery was done open two years ago. My current surgeon is planning to do the revision laproscopicaly and confident that it should not be an issue he said that about half the time depending on how you healed from the previous surgery...how much scar tissue is present, what the staple line on my origianal surgery looks like and so on... will determain if he can complete the surgery laproscopicaly or will need to convert to another open surgery. He will try his darndest to do it laproscopicaly!!! I know what you mean abou going through another open surgery... I have heard a lot of people going through a second time with a successful lap surgery when the original was done open! Good luck to you!  Tina.
