Hi, I posted this on the main board and it was suggested I post it here.... I was just wondering, does anyone out there know if anything can be done, non surgically, to correct a too wide anastomosis (intestine leading to pouch)? This is my curent situation and I can eat like preop. I have no idea what to do but I can't have another surgery, I dont even think a surgeon will do it. Thanks for any advice. CW

YES! Endoscopic Repair! Dr. Christopher Thompson at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston is the only doctor in the world who is doing it. I am having mine done on June 13! He goes down your throat (while you're under general anesthesia) and sews up your anastomosis to make it smaller, and also he can tighten up your pouch if that has stretched (like mine). My insurance is paying for it. You can google his name or call his office at 617-732-7429. I first called him in December 2005, saw him in April, and my endoscopic suturing procedure is in June. Feel free to email me with questions.. [email protected].

Wow sounds like a great procedure. I did not know about this but had the same problem. Had RNY in 1985. My doc placed a lap band over the anastamosis. I feel great..lost 20 lbs already. So if you cannot make it to Boston...this may also be an option. stacey

Stacey, Thank you for your advice. However, I cannot have another surgery at this time due to my history. If you want, you can take a look at my profile and you will understand more why I cannot. But thank you for your response. CW
