How much protein does one person need in a day? How is the best way to get these proteins?

My doctor tells me 60 - 90 grams per day and I was a RNY Proximal. I don't always get that much each day, but I try. The way I get that much protein is through protein shakes. Be sure to read the serving size per scoop to make sure you're getting enough protein and watch the sugar per serving too. There are some really great ways to prepare these shakes that are truly yummy! I would reccommend buying a book called "Before & After: Living and Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" by Susan Maria Leach. Also, check out http://www.enjoyhealth.com and http://www.vitalady.com for protein and sugar-free syrups that make protein taste great! If you're not sure what you want, you can get one of the sample packs. Prevents monotony! Here are 2 of my favorite recipies: 1/2 scoop of French Vanilla protein (15 grams) 1/2 scoop of Cantalope protein (15 grams) 2 - 3 melon-baller scoops of honeydew mellon 1/4 kiwi (just enough to get those nice crunchy seeds in there for texture) Splash of Half and Half (because it has very little sugar) Splenda to taste Cold Water Ice Drop all of these items in a blender (I use the Magic Bullet) and blend until creamy and smooth! It's cooling, it's fruity and creamy, and it's good for you! Enjoy! 1 scoop of Vanilla protein (30 grams) 1 tbsp of unsweetend cocoa powder 1 or 2 pinches of chai masala (Trikona brand) Splenda to taste Cold Water Ice Blend these items together until smooth and creamy for a really yummy cool and frothy chocolate chai shake! It may sound strange, but it's really a nice dessert-like summertime treat! Wow!
