Looking for SF Baklava
If you've made baklava before, you'll understand my suggestion. I'm not much of a recipe person, but I have made baklava before using SF honey and Splenda.
You'll use phyllo dough sheets, just as in any recipe for baklava. I use coarsely crushed walnuts that have been mixed with some Splenda and a little cinnamon.
I start with 3-4 sheets on the bottom, with butter brushed between sheets. Next, sprinkle some of the walnut mixture on the next sheet (that has also been brushed with butter), continue layering 2-3 sheets phyllo, walnut mixture, phyllo, walnut mixture etc. ending with phyllo. Brush butter on top. I usually use a sharp knife and cut diamond shaped pieces before I bake. Bake until nice and golden.
While the Baklava is baking, you can make a simple syrup from water, Splenda, and enough SF honey to slightly change the texture of the water....Splenda will not change it, but the syrup will make it stickier. I like to add a few lemon slices and a few cinnamon sticks. Let it come to a boil, shut off heat and cool slightly.
When baklava is done cooking, you can spoon the syrup over the top. It should mostly be absorbed by the baklava. You don't want it to get mushy, so go slow and stop spooning it on when it stops absorbing.
As I said, I'm a "don't use measuring cups or recipes" kind of cook, so I hope you can work with this to come up with a good recipe.
