Hi, I found the recipes for the protein balls,, since I am not a fan of peanut butter i used cream cheese instead... well, the 'mix' comes out way too wet, and anything I coat the balls in just dissolves.. is it because i'm using cream cheese? i even kept adding protein powder but it just stayed frosting like consistency?? anyone have any suggestions?

I used 8oz cream cheese, 11/2 cupschocolate protein powder, pkt splenda,1/4 teaspn almond extract, mixed with my kitchen aide then rolled them into balls and thencoated with cocoa powder with some splenda but they're still 'wet'.   last batch i kept adding protein powder but no imporvement!1

It might be b/c of the cream cheese. I never have problems with it being too wet when I use PB. Sorry its not coming out for you

Hi Fran-
I found a few recipes on here for protein balls- most use peanut butter, and I am sure they come out nice and firm.  I am not a pb fan, so i use low fat cream cheese, and i am still experimenting.   found coconut flakes ground (Bobs Red Mill make it) the few i have made:

chocolate  proteing balls

8 ox pkg cream cheese softened
1 cup or so of chocolate protein powder (i add it in and see how it mixes, i use a kitchenaide tho)
a few DROPS of almond or coconut extract (MAYBE 1/4 teaspoon- its very strong!!)

mix well, refrig a little while and then roll into balls (otherwise they get all over your hands)
I rolled in a mix of cocoa powder with a touch of splenda, but they were still too wet.

first i used almond& cocoa powder - then the next time i used coconut extract and ground coconut flakes- came out MUCH better!

i want to try with instant coffee next

then i substituted Vanilla protein powder, used coconut extract and some banana extract, (same thing they are very strong so a few drops of each!!) and rolled in coconut flakes... was 'tropical'

these are all a hit, and hard to keep around since everyone eats them on me!!
let me know how they work out for you and if you do anything to improve.  i know "kathie in hawaii" has recipes on her profile site and based mine on those... good luck

Do you like almond butter?  If not you might try cutting back to 3-4 oz cream cheese and add some cereal like  Bran Bran buds to help hold together.   I also have added quick oats to the mix as well.

Good luck on finding something that works for you

I found this on OH. Try this recipe:

CHEESECAKE PROTEIN BALL RECIPE©

OKAY!
Instead of PB, use Cream Cheese!!!! Instead of Cocao Powder, use chopped almonds or macadamia nuts!  Add some vanilla extract for a yummy taste!!!

Want more of a cheesecake consistency?!?!??! ADD one EGG, 1 tablespoon of flour with pure vanilla extract... Bake at 350 for about 10-12 minutes.. COOL and ENJOY!!! Want a little bit of fruit with it?!?!?!

ADD 1/4 tablespoon of 100% Real Fruit jam (I love the blackberry 100% preserves...What a heavenly treat...curbs the sweet craving AND is good for you!!

Each 1" protein ball has about 10 grams of protein (give or take a gram if you use more or less of the PB or Cream Cheese)... and if you use 100% complex carbohydrate cereal such as Rice Crispies or Granola, it can bump up the protein AND fiber!!!

When I make these (I still do at 5 years post!!), I have to tell my kids to STAY AWAY FROM EM! LOL

Hope this helps!! Just eating 4 a day can easily at 40 grams of protein!! Add this with some lean turkey or tuna and you will easily surpass your daily requirement!!

Could someone point me in the direction of the various protein ball recipes? I took a look but keep coming back to this one with the cream cheese and I do not mind peanut butter. I am willing to try anything at this point.

Thanks,

Shay

Will these work on pureed or have to wait for a later stage and if so which one?  I think I may use peanut butter though.
