A vegan lifestyle is something that I have considered, but am not ready to commit to at this point in my weight loss journey.  However, I met someone I'm really interested in dating, and I'd like to cook for him, but he lives vegan most of the time.  I am also cooking-retarded.  Any suggestions?

The classic downfall I've seen is combining a general inability to cook with unusual dietary restrictions.  Too often those people end up being what I call "spaghetti vegetarian."

There is a whole host of consideration that must be given to macro and micro-nutrients when you're going to drop things from a diet.  I would suggest a start with Ovo-lacto vegetarian and the cuisine of India which has a rich vegetarian tradition.

I was an ovo-lacto vegetarian for about four years and loved it, but I was FAT because of the unhealthy carbohydrate choices I was making.  I already eat a lot of Indian food, so that would be an easy transition!

Thanks for you input!

i know exactly the person you need to talk to.  Jackie Hess, aka IronTits on the main board.  Her husband is a vegan chef.

They eat stuff that I have no clue what it is.  Seriously, ingredients that I have never heard of.  She's probably on my friends list.  If you can't find her quickly let me know, I can find her.

OMG I LOVE Jackie, and we're already buddies!  I had no idea her hubs was a vegan chef, but I did notice that she "liked" everything I ever posted on Facebook about tempeh

This is a FANTASTIC web site for  vegan recipes.. Check it out and do some searching; it's kinda like going to a thrift store. I'm sure you'll find some great ideas.
