I just got a big pack of ground turkey, and I found it to be bland and dry. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

I make turkey meatloaf at least once a week.... just like regular beef meatloaf only use the ground turkey.

I also just brown a package of ground turkey, weigh it out into 2-3oz portions and the eat it with a dollop of salsa and sour cream.  Easy lunch for work.

If I make turkey patties I will add a package of dry ranch dressing....or mix it up like meatloaf, but cook it in patties on top of the stove.

Try making some white chili....ground turkey is great in that!!!

I have a receipe for ground turkey burgers that adds tomato sauce to add moisture.  I think it also has some bread crumbs to hold it together.

I use ground turkey for saucy dishes like sloppy joes and taco filling.

Our grocery has prepackaged sloppy joe mix where you add tomato paste - this keeps the sugar down.

For tacos I use a mix or just a can of enchilada sauce.

I eat mine on a low carb tortilla or arnold thin.

my nutritionist shared this recipe with me and it is AWESOME if you like spicy food.  I skip the bun because I don't do bread but it is still delish!

Buffalo Sloppy Joes

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 pound ground turkey breast
  • 1 carrot, peeled and chopped or grated
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 to 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped or grated
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar Splenda
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup hot sauce (recommended: Frank's Red Hot)
  • 1 cup low sodium tomato sauce
  • 1 cup chicken stock or broth
  • 1/2 cup blue cheese crumbles
  • 2 large dill pickles, chopped

Directions

Heat a large skillet with extra-virgin olive oil over medium-high heat. Add meat and break it up with wooden spoon, cook 5 to 6 minutes. Add in carrots, celery, onions and garlic, season with salt and freshly ground black pepper, cook 7 to 8 minutes more. In a bowl combine the vinegar, splenda, Worcestershire, hot sauce, tomato sauce and stock. Pour into the pan and stir to combine. Simmer a few minutes more. Pile sloppy Buffalo filling onto buns (as desired) and top with blue cheese

My Grandmother used to make 1 oz. meatballs with just ground turkey and baked them for an hour at 350.  I made some soup last night with a pound of those meatballs, a pound of shrimp, a large can of red enchilada sauce made w/red chiles not tomato, a can of chiles, a can of diced tomato with zesty chiles, a can of green beans a can of Progresso Black Bean and Bacon, and several types of canned beans (like pinto, garbanzo field peas and snaps, white beans - can of each) added some garlic powder and some onion powder.  I used the large can of enchilada sauce for 1 can of water to rinse out the other cans.  It was bangin.  Made a huge pot.

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.
