I need picnic recipe's

I am 3 months out and have not done much cooking yet. I need something simple to take to my 4th of July picnic.  I need something that will be pretty sustanable in the heat. Was thinking of some sort of pasta salad with italian dressing. Any help?? I really don't want anything i have to bake because I don't like to heat my house up.
