Peanut Butter OK? And what is PB2?
I am 6 weeks post RNY and have had a little trouble getting off of liquids and onto real food. For the first weeks transitioning from liquids to soft food I ate cottage cheese, yogurt, soup and hot cereal. I supplemented with 160 calorie/15 gm protien premixed shakes. Now I am trying to branch out but I think I'm a little afraid. I have added a few things like a soft poached egg on soft eggy crustless toast (suggested by the PA in my Dr's office), and the ricotta cheese "lasagna" found on this website. I have had a little egg salad, tuna salad and so on, but veggies upset my tum, and I have been craving something real.
Today my daughter sliced a small banana, put a smear of peanut butter on each slice and I thought I was in heaven. It tasted great and went down great!! Is this ok? And can someone tell me what PB2 is? It seems like people on here don't eat peanut butter.....is it the sugar? And are there any other suggestions of what to try?

Peanut butter is fine! SO ARE BANANAS!!!
Actually, I have started eating some peanut butter on bannana as a snack after my runs, to refuel my body of protein, carbs and potassium.
Early out, I would put some banana in my oatmeal/cream of wheat. I would also put half of one in my smoothies very early out (I don't do smoothies now...).
I did a lot of egg beater omelettes, ricotta cheese lasagna, white fish, shrimp was awesome, as was chicken ground up in mashed potatoe/gravy.
PB2, I believe, is a "fake" peanut butter...I think in powder form. I haven't used it so can't address the nutritional and taste aspects.
good luck, and just experiment with different things. What works for one, may not work for another.
Hugs,
Kathy

Every morning in Africa , a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning inAfrica , a lion wakes up.
It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Congrats on your WLS journey!
Yes, peanut butter is totally OK, but the natural PB is what you should have. The only ingredients should read: peanuts, oil & salt. Skippy makes a GREAT natural peanut butter that tastes the same as the regular. You also don't have that yucky oil to stir around!! The sugar content is very low. 2 tbsps = 7g protein, 3g sugar and 17g fat. Yes, the fat content is high, but it is the "good" kind of fat. This is why the natural is the best and what the nutritionists say to have. Just be careful and have only the recommended 2 tablespoons (which I find hard to do myself sometimes as it is just so yummy lol!)

I would go as far as saying the ingredients should be Peanuts, salt.
Some companies extract the peanut oil (which can be sold at higher margins) and replace it with cheaper vegetable oils (like corn) turning peanut butter into some wierd Frankenfood.

PB is the best!!! i had a lot of trouble post op with strictures and vomiting etc and now i live off pb, i used to take two slices of cheese and put pb in the middle, was loaded protein, low fat cheese (but still enough fat to keep in my diet), now im on to pb and bananas and hell just eating pb, yes you should stick with natural, however i hate the natural teddy stuff its all gritty and grose, but the skippy natural is good... enjoy and easy on the carbs in your diet
