Curried Split Pea (vegan) AMAZING!!!!

I had a monster fill yesterday and I'm living off this today. It's amazing!!!!

Curried Split Pea Soup from Vegan with a Vengeance

1 tbl olive oil
1 med white onion, cut into 1/4 inch dice
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbl fresh ginger, minced (I used 4 pieces of dried whole ginger)
2 tsp curry power
1 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp ground coriander
1/4 tsp ground cardamom
A generous pinch of cinnamon (which I forgot to add)
2 tsp salt
8 c water
1 pound dried split peas
1 carrot (I left this out)

In a stockpot, saute the onions in the olive oil over medium heat for
about 5 min. Add the garlic, ginger, spices, and salt. Saute for 2
more min.
Add the water and stir well. Add the split peas. Cover and bring to a boil.
Bring heat back down to medium; simmer for about an hour, until the
peas are tender.

Puree after cooled if needed.
