Clear Liquid Recipes
In a pot put a whole chicken, couple turkey drumsticks or beef roast...add some celery, onions, carrots...Fill pot up with water...Might need to check this every so often to make sure water doesnt cook down too much...Might have to add more water...Bake until done, slowly approx 4-5 hours, give or take...take the meat and veggies out and feed to your family...Place broth in the fridge, allow to cool, skim off any excess fat that comes to the top...Add salt & pepper to taste...Could also add some garlic and cauliflower ( optional)...Could also fix this in a crock pot...
Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only TRUE FRIENDS will leave footprints in your heart...And may that friendship have such a ONENESS that when one weeps the other will taste salt...Friends are like balloons ; once you let them go you can't get them back....So I'm going to tie you to my heart so I never lose you.
Hi Cynthia, I am on day 19 of my 21 days of clear liquids, so I feel your pain, girl! Fortunately, my doctor makes protein supplements, so I cheated somewhat and started using his tomato soup supplement (which, in all fairness, is a liquid & looks clear red on the spoon.) I told him I what I was doing and he approved it. It's actually really yummy, especially when I make it with beef broth instead of water.
I haven't found a whole lot you can do differently with broth; however, I have been making protein slushies using the clear protein supplements that I purchased from my doctor (its at wlsvitamins.com, fyi.) So I put lemonade protein powder in the blender along with 6-8 oz. of water, some extra lemon juice (I like it on the tart side) and a bunch of ice; then I just blended it until it was all slushy. It was a very refreshing change from just drinking plain protein water. I also added my scoop of Up Cal D (calcium supplement) since I had to start it last week. I also made this with a grapefruit protein supplement, but I liked the lemonade one better.
You could also make this by using Kellogg's Protein Water. I buy the individual packets of pink lemonade, but I bet you could use their pre-made water: just pour it into the blender, add some ice, mix it up and presto! Instant slurpee! Or you could use Crystal Light and ice, and try adding some fresh lemon or lime juice to it. Ooo, I didn't think about lime! I've got to go get some tomorrow and try that. I've got two more days to go and then I never want to see, smell or taste chicken broth again! LOL I'll probably be saying that about greek yogurt, cottage cheese and refried beans in a couple of weeks.
Anyway, good luck to you!
