Anyone have a good suggestion as to what I can use instead of brown sugar in oatmeal or cream of wheat?  I usually eat the maple brown sugar flavor of both and since that's not an option, I don't want to eat it, even though its good for me.  Any suggestions?

I was scared to use it since I thought it still had real sugar in it.  I am doing everything I can to avoid dumping...  You think it'll be okay? Any suggestions on how to try it to make sure I won't dump?

It does have some sugar in it but you can probably have some. I mix regular splenda (no sugar) with other sweatners. So the splenda gets it to an acceptable tast and the other sweetners give it the distinct tast I want. I use light knotts jam, splenda brown sugar, honey, dried dates. Also works with plain non-fat yogurt. I have not dumped on anything yet but too many carbs stalled my weight loss.

Oh... How funny... I didn't even notice that. Do you go to the support groups?

I went to one a few months ago.  It was okay.  Mostly older people so I didn't really feel like I fit in too well.  Plus, I work so they are not at a convenient time and I was pre-op at the time so I could not identify with anything anyone was saying.  I did learn a little being there.  Plus, Dr. Y is there so that helps some.  I would go if I could get off work in time.  Have you been?  I also heard there was another group that met at the Luth church on J, have you been to that one?  I sometimes wonder when going to support groups if we might be someones substitute for fight club?

ha ha.. you could be right... I have not been to a support group meeting yet. I want to go to Dr. Y's this month. The last one was my surgery date. I have been really discoraged because My weight loss stalled for like 3 weeks. Dr. Y said I was doing well but I don't think so. I finally started loosing again after cutting carbs. I heard about the other one but I think I will feel more comfortable at Dr. Y's because I know him and I like the dietican. I felt like everyone in the KP class was old too. I am only 24 and I think I was the only one under 40. I know for sure I was the only one under 30. Well small world huh? I am gonna add u as a friend.

I figure that Dr. Y's group will be better than any other group.  I am only two weeks out today so I have no idea what to expect at my first post op visit which is scheduled for wed.  I am looking forward to seeing what I've lost.  Thanks for the add !

Well I'm sure you have been doing great. I hope to see you at a support group or at least chat here. You'll know me because I will be the only somewhat young person.
