Question for the Cooks
I am having a hard time finding sugar free syrups. Do extracts work in a similar manner in protein shakes? I have found rootbeer, cherry, and banana extracts that sound like they would be tasty added to a vanilla shake (Chike vanilla is the only thing I have found that I like), but I thought I would ask the experts first. I am a preop experimenting, so I didn't want to invest a lot in them or even in ordering the Torani syrups without some testing.
Thanks!
Thanks!
The Super Wal Mart in our area carries the Davinci sf syrup....they have limited flavors, and they are under $4. I also ordered some off line from a place called bevtech online......I ordered 4 of the fifth size bottles, including shipping I paid around $30. There are some other places that carry them cheaper.
I am also pre-op, so maybe others with more knowledge will chime in!
Hope this helps ya!

Hi I bought a lot of different DaVinci Sugar Free flavor's from Amazon. I am post op since Jan 22 and have used them a lot in shakes and my high protein ice cream.... also have used them in the high protein cakes that i makes at times... Recipes from theworldaccordingto eggface.com .... another way i found to flavor shakes is to use crystal lite with protein powder.... either vanilla.... or using syntex nectar flavors... a lot of people do not like the nectar but i can tell you mixed with crystal lite and they are wonderful.... I buy the nectar from netrition.com and they also have the sugar free divinci syrups.... Here in Oklahoma I have also found the divinci sugar free syrups at a large health food store... here it is called akins natural foods.... but they didn't have a lot of flavors.....
just to note.... vanilla whey powder mixed with carmel syrup is great and also the chocolate.... also the chocolate whey mixed with almond syrup... raspberry mixed with either chocolate or with the roadside lemonade nectar....
extracts are not syrups... just flavorings... i am sure they may work... but not for sure...... i just used the syrups.....
anyway just a thought....

I also sometimes use SF pudding (the powder without milk) in my shakes. Choc/butterscotch is my fave. I just add a tablespoon.
Otherplaces that have the syrups, are Smart & Final, and Cost Plus if you have one in your area. They have limited flavors, but some to try.
When I did optifast years ago, I used the extracts and they were great (The syrups weren't on the market at that time). You might want to add alittle sweetner if needed, I love Truvia.l
