Asparagus....help

you can put the asparagus in the oven with a little olive oil, garlic powder, and parmesean and it is awesome....

You should trim off the ends.  If the asparagus that you bought is very thick you may also want to use a vegetable peeler to remove some of the skin on the lower part, but it's not necessary.

I usually just cook them on the stovetop in a small amount of water with a teaspoon or two of butter melted in the water for about 8-9 minutes.  Salt sparingly.

Cut up leftover asparagus is wonderful as an addition to salad.  Especially spinach salad.  Yum.

Other than just steamed and then adding butter and salt; my favorite aspargus dish is cold.  Take cold sparagus and cover it with Italian dressing and chill.  Now that is good eating.  And oh so simple.

Never liked it pre RNY, but now I crave it!  I keep it simple, wash, trim ends. Saute in nonstick skillet sprayed with olive oil spray till color starts to turn, flipping often kind of like Emeri does, then when almost done I hit it with about 2 Tablespoons southbeach Balsalmic Vigarette dressing, the steam from that finishes cooking it and gives it a great taste. Serve warm or cold!!!.
