Almond Flour & Liquid Artificial Sweetner

I have noticed that almost all low carb recipe's ask for ALMOND FLOUR.  I looked at Wal Mart but couldn't find it.  I have Soy flour, but apparently Almond is better?  I live in Utah so there isn't a Trader Joes or anything here. Good Earth is the only one I know. And I think like a Sunflower Market or something?  Guess I should go look there.  Also where can I find LIQUID Artificial Sweetner?

I couldn't find almond flour in any store in my area (we have the normal Walmart, Target, and local supermarkets) so I ordered mine online. You can get it on Amazon.com - warning, it's pretty pricey. I paid like $40 for a 5lb bag - but I've had it for about 7 months now and still have plenty left.

As for liquid sweetners - I'm assuming you mean like flavorings - I use Torini. They're always having sales and are really great. I'm a huge fan on the caramel, coconut, and raspberry. I add the raspberry to my milk - taste just like strawberry milk (which was my absolute fave prior to WLS but has too my sugar for my pouch to handle now.)

Shauna- I wasn't quite sure what it meant by liquid artificial sweetner.  I hadn't heard of it until I was looking for low carb sugar free muffin recipes. And I found a few but they ask for artificial sweetners, it says liquid preferred?  And it doesn't say a flavor either, so that is why I figured it wasn't ones like the Torini.

Hmmm then maybe they just mean like the liquid version of Splenda. I know there are liquid sugar substitutes - where to find them - that I do not know. Wish I could help more. But I'm sure if you're making muffins and want blueberry - blueberry torini would work - haha.

The liquid sweetner I use is SweetzFree. You can get it at www.sweetzfree.com.  It is super concentrated and lasts a very long time. They have it in 1, 2 and 4 ounce bottles. 25 drops are equal to 1 cup of sugar.  The 1 ounce size is good for your purse.  For things like custards or where more liquid is OK, you can use the DiVinci Sugar Free flavored syrups.

You can make your own almond flour using slivered almonds and your food processor.  I was paying $10-$13 for a oound bag until I started buying the bags of almonds for $2.79 each and two bags make me the same amount I was buying.  Save your money for something else!

Torani makes a sugar free sweetener too. It's in a bottle like the syrups. I usually grind my own almond flour, it's cheaper. We have a local grocery store that carries it and it's $10 for a 2 lb bag. Nope too much. I use soy and wheat flour. If I'm not in a hurry I will grind up the almonds.

If you don't have almonds on hand...try grinding pecans.
Also try Agave Nectar---found in organic section of  foodlion...or gnc.
It can be used in recipes that call for liquid sweetner...pretty easy on the tummy too.
