I have a recipe but for a cake that call for all purpose flour.   I want to make this cake lower carbed without taking away the flavor.   It is already a diabetic recipe... but was wondering what to exchange for the all purpose flour?   maybe almond flour?  or something like that?  and do they exchange the same?   or how about Carbquick?

just wondering

Brenda,

I got my list from "hear_me_roar".  I lived with him for a long time and he made all kinds of baked things with soy flour, coconut flour, almond flour, Carbquik, flaxmeal.  You can find a lot of options but certain things like Carbquik taste a bit strange.  Coconut flour or soy flour seems to taste the best and works just about as good as can be had instead of using regular flour.  His recipes keep me in good shape while making sure that I don't crave a thing.

Thanks Sarah,

I have read a lot of his recipes and saw that.... I am making this cake for my daughter's bday  and eventhough i am not going to eat it i wanted something that i could eat to show everyone that low carb isn't giving up taste...   Thomas is helping me with my diet now... which is great i need someone to tell me what to do...  have a great day

Brenda,

I use Bob’s red mill low carb baking mix. http://www.bobsredmill.com/product.php?productid=3760  The stats are great, it even high in protein!! I use this in place of flour and it doesn’t change the texture of the item I’m baking.

Hope this helps, I am able to buy it at my local grocer.

Take Care
