Wanted: SLOPPY JOES!

My darling hubby has requested Sloppy Joes for dinner sometime this week.  I grabbed a can of Sloppy Joe Sauce at the grocery store and just checked the label.  Sugar was the second ingredient on the list after tomato paste.  It calls for spices.  Does anyone have a WLS friendly recipe for the sauce.  I've got the tomato paste covered...need a little help on the spices.
Thank you in advance!

I googled this and every recipe I saw had the same basic ingredients. Onion, bell pepper and tomato paste/sauce. I think you could spice it up however you wanted and it would be good.

Here is one that I found on hungry girl web site

Not so Plain Jane

1 lb extra lean ground turkey
5 sm hamburger buns
1/2 c chopped onions
1/2 c red bell pepper chopped
1 c canned tomatoe sauce
3/4 c no salt added tomato sauce
2 TBS tomato paste
1 1/2 TBS splenda
1 TBS red wine vinegar
1 TBS worcestershire sauce
1 tsp dry steak blend
dash of salt

Spray a large pan with non stick spray and bring to a medium high heat. Add turkey to the pan, break it up a bit.

In a small dish, combine splenda, salt and steak seasoning. Sprinkle on meat
Once meat has browned reduce heat to med.

Add onions, peppers, worcestire suce and vinegar to pan. Stir and continue to cook for 5 mins

Toast bun if desired. Put 1/5 of the mixture on each bottom bun and then finish off with tops of bun.

Heads Up! These Sloppy Janes are a little sweet, because, well, that's the way we like 'em! If you don't like yours sweet, feel free to leave out the Splenda.

I haven't tried this recipe, but I saw it on SparkRecipes today and thought of your request.  So here's a link to Diet Coke Sloppy Joes.  Sounds interesting.
