Hello,
Never been over here on the recipe forum! WOW! It's cool!
Does anyone have any great ideas for my mushy/puree stage?? I can't wait to eat an egg! I just hope my little pouch will like them as much as I do! I do plan on eating some ricotta cheese too!
Any suggestions please throw my wayplease.
Thank you,
Lisa

Have you tried this site?
theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods .html

The first mushy foods I had was mashed potatoes with unflavored protein and gravy.  I thought I had died and gone to heaven after all that liquid protein.  I also ate corned beef hash.

My favorite breakfast is:

COTTAGE CHEESE PANCAKES

Ingredients
2 eggs or 1/2 cup eggbeaters
1/2 cup lowfat cottage cheese
1 package  Quaker Oats Weight Control oatmeal (higher in protein than reg. instant oatmeal)

Directions
Put all the ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth.
Lightly spray skillet and place over low heat. When the skillet is
hot, spoon the batter onto the skillet and coo****il it starts
bubbling and has set up, flip and coo****il golden brown.
Makes about 4 pancakes. Serve with sf syrup or sf fruit spread.
Pancakes freeze well.

Servings
1-2
Comments and Notes
Each serving has about 27 grams of protein 310 cal. If using
eggbeaters 270cal.

Lisa, Your best bet is to go through all the post and pick out what applies.  I found one that quickly became one of our favorites even now!!! I cannot remember who posted it so I cannot give them any credit.   Yummy!!! I am going to include it because it is pretty far back on the board.

BLACK BEAN SOUP (Makes 12 cups pureed)

3- 19 oz can black beans, drained
1 tbsp oil
3 cloves minced garlic
2 onions, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped ( I did not use)
2 tsp chili powder
2 tsp chopped fresh or pickled jalepeno peppers
1½ tsp dried oregano
1 tsp ground cumin
6 cups chicken stock
1 can stewed tomatoes 14 oz can
¾ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
½ package Low Fat Hillshire Farms Smoked Sausage diced
4 tsp lime juice

Sautee garlic, onions and celery in the oil until transluscent. Add the chicken stock, the spices and the beans. Boil gently for 20 mins. Add the tomatoes and the sausage and gently boil another 10 mins. Add the lime juice just before serving. Puree and serve with a dollop of fat free sour cream and a sprinkle of Chives. Freezes well after it’s been pureed as well.

Have you heard of PB2? If you like cottage cheese, I suggest mixing in some PB2 and sweetener. That has been like candy to me lately.

Thank you all!
The recipe sounds great! I have heard of PB2 and that some do not care for it and some love it.
I too like sweets so I will order me up some.
I can't wait till tomorrow!

Thanks again,
Lisa

I'm wondering now if anyone will be having anything with peanut butter for awhile! This is just scary! You should check on that to be sure. Maybe go to the FDA site and look up peanut butter info...

i pureed a lot of beans....black beans and lima beans taste completely different, so it's a way to get some variety and still be healthy.  Because I live alone and wasn't eating a great deal-I would just open  can, puree it with some spices, and eat on it till it was gone-usually a couple of days.

Black beans pureed with a little melted cheese on top is still one of my favorites-it's kind of my version of bean soup.

Ricotta cheese with a little spaghetti sauce in it is pretty good too.

Just about any canned soup can be purreed.

I enjoyed pureed tuna and chicken salad too.

Just about anything that you can add some moisture to can be pureed.

I too wanted the mashed potatoes after surgery, but one thing I wanted to mention was that my taste buds were a little off for a while and the taste wasn't what I remembered pre-surgery.  Just wanted to give a heads up about that.  (It's back to normal now.)

Thank you,
I did have mashed pototoes tonight with gravy. We went out and that was what I ordered. It did taste pretty good. Next time I go out I will try the chili. I have been lucky so far with all that I have tried. It has only been egg, ricotta cheese with sauce, cream of wheat and the mashed pots. Tomorrow I will try tuna fish or chicken salad whizzed up good. I don't have light mayo so I will just use tiny bit of reg.
