Ok - so here's my deal. I'm a texture eater. Which means there are not a lot of fruit or veggies I like because of texture.   But recently (while being stranded at an airport in Seattle), I had a taste of my husbands smoothie. It was raspberries and strawberries.

I can't have those smoothies (that stands and such make) because they use syrups or premixes that are LOADED with sugar.  Everytime we go, I ask them about it and sure enough, there has never been less than 30+g of sugar per serving (8oz) and they make 12oz and larger... so..

I tried to make my own but they taste horrible. Too bitter, etc.  I thought if I puree the fruit, it would be easier way for me to get in my fruit intake   (I'm already gratting fine or pureeing veggies to mix in food when i cook).

I'd love to get some ideas of what you guys use to make protein smoothies and how you make it taste good.

I'm gastric bypass, so It can't have ice cream or refined sugar (as I've seen some lap-band people use)

8 ounces skim milk
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/4 cup of frozen strawberries or raspberries.

Throw it all in the blender and blend it well.  If you want it thicker add a few ice cubes and keep blending.
