I am freezing and was thinking of making so old fashioned cocoa with milk and cocoa powder.  I have vanilla protein powder and was thinking of adding it to the cocoa.  Has anyone done this before and if so, any suggestions or a better way to do it?

Thanks!
Erin

Make a slurry out of the protein powder first.  You never want to add whey protein to boiling ho****er or milk, has something to do with losing it's effectiveness (?).  I as told to make the slurry and then add the hot milk or water I guess it would be like tempering an egg so it does not curdle.  But I only use Champion  Whey Stack protein, so maybe if you look up the kind you use on the net it may say something different.  Good Luck.

I keep a container of Unsweetened Cocoa/Splenda "mix" handy and then add hot milk to that.

Matrix Chocolate mixes fairly well in hot liquids so I put a scoop of Matrix, 2 Tbsp of "mix" in a mug and add hot milk.  Add just enough milk to make the slurry first, then add the remaining milk.

Erin, if you will look back in the Recipes you will find many recipes for Hot Cocoa.  I posted mine which my family really loves and I add a scoop of the AnyWhey to it.  You have to be very careful about how hot your water is, if it is too hot your Whey will curdle and it is not good!!!  I just run a pot of water through the coffee pot and that is hot enough but will not cause the Whey to curdle.  (I would repost the recipe but it is in NC and I am in VA) PM me and I'll send when I get home if you haven't found it.

I use Swiss Miss Diet cocoa mix.  (It's the best as far as lowest sugar and calorie count.)

I mix 2 packets with 20 ounces of water.  Then I add 2 tablespoons of chocolate protein powder in (though I could easily add 2 more if I needed to).

I  mix it with a blender bottle, then microwave it (about 1/3 at a time).

When it comes out of the microwave (the 1/3 that I heated up), I pour in a little caramel da vinci syrup.

It is UMMMMMMMM good!
