TVP
I just bought some, too! Basically, you can use it in any recipe that calls for ground meat, such as Hamburger Helper, tacos, chili, meatloaf, sloppy joes, spaghetti sauce etc. It also comes in chunks & strips, in addition to granules so you can have a lot of different textures in your TVP cooking.
I did a GOOGLE search for "TVP how to use it" and came up with a TON of sites. Lots of advice & good ideas there.
Some people advise to start gradually--for instance, use a ratio of 3/4 ground meat to 1/4 TVP in a recipe to get used to it, eventually using all TVP in a recipe.
Some people advocate LIGHTLY "toasting" it in a skillet to retain more or a meat-like texture, before rehydrating it or adding to your recipe. Others just reconstitute it in broth first, for added flavor.
You'll want to add it near the END of your recipe and be sure to add additional liquid to your recipe, as the TVP will absorb liquid as it cooks. You'll need to stir frequently while cooking, as it tends to settle to the bottom of the pot & could scorch easily.
You can also use the unflavored TVP in other recipes--add it to cookies, pancakes, waffles & fruit cobblers. I have also heard of people using it in dry form as granola. Use them on top of salads (think fake bacon bits, which is bacon flavored TVP).
Have fun!!
