Here are a couple I really like, I can't remember who posted before but I got them from here and/or the internet....  I have made the first one, never did the 2nd one.  I ususally eat about 1/2.  I have heard you can toast it as well if you want.   Besure you put the coffee cup to soak in water when done, or it really hard to clean!   Also

One use:  add several tablespoons (ground)  to your oatmeal.

Flax Muiffin in a minute      Serving Size: 1

1/4 cup flax meal (someone said you could substitute almond meal, but I love the flax meal).
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 packet splenda packet (I use about a Tablespoon of splenda)
1 teaspoon cinnamon (I use dash or none)
1 large egg
1 teaspoon butter

Put the dry ingredients in a coffee mug. Or a bowl for a different shape.

Stir.

Then add the egg and the butter. Mix.

Microwave 50-60 seconds. Take out. slice, butter, eat. Set mug to soak immediately. It should be somewhat shiny and slide out of cup and soft. (dry if overcooked)

Cream cheese would go nicely, too.

One Minute Molten Chocolate Flax Muffin

2 tsps butter or coconut oil
1/4 cup flaxseed meal
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tbl cocoa powder (I use Wonderslim Wondercocoa-not bitter don't have to add vanilla extract)
1 egg
Sweetening of choice such as 1 tbl of sf syrup of choice (my favorite is sf chocolate macadamia nut) or 1-2 pkts of Splenda or Stevia
1 square of Lindt 85% Dark Chocolate

Melt the 1-2 tsps of butter or CO in a large oversize mug in the microwave-usually about 20 seconds. Add the 1/4 cup flaxseed meal, 1/2 tsp baking powder & 1 tbl cocoa powder and mix well. Add the egg and sweetener and mix again. Float the 1 square of the dark chocolate in the middle of the batter. Nuke for about 1 minute-the top should look slightly wet and not be dried out. Turn out onto serving plate and wash mug right away as the flax can be hard to remove if it dries in the mug. Enjoy with a schmear of cream cheese or whipped cream.

Is your flax already ground, or is it whole?   I think it is kinda hard to digest whole and may pass through,  I grind mine, either in my Bullet, or my spice grinder (I have one for coffee and one for other stuff) or you can whirl it in your blender.   It is kinda nutty.

Good Luck  Enjoy

If you are going to get the full nutrient value of the flax seeds they need to be ground. If they are whole they just drift on through, so basically don't do much. I don't cook much with it because it tends to get old fast unless you keep it in the fridge. I take the flaxseed oil. I know there are many uses for the seeds after they are ground....oatmeal, coatings, in your protein drinks, used to thicken broths...EggFace would probably have alot of recipes on her site too.

Hello,

I just sprinkle mine in my cereal add milk and eat.  Just gotta chew really well.

Best use I have found for them is sewing them inside an 4x6 peice of t-shirt material.  (Stuff pretty full)  Heating up in microwave for about 2 minutes.  It conforms to what ever hurts and holds the heat well!  Best heating pad ever.

Hi Again

I was dinking around looking for recipes and came accross this info on Flax

 http://cookingdonelight.com/blog/2007/07/10/the-facts-on-fla x/

It gives ways to use it and lists benefits... I learned I can use flax to replace an egg in some recipes... I might try it...  would definitely save calories

They said to use 1 TB ground flax with 3 Tbsp Water.  blend together and use in replacement of an egg.  Not sure if the texture of the product would remain the same but I'll try it some day.
