LOW Carb: Two VERY Different BBQ Sauces !!!
Two very different, very good Low Carb BBQ sauces
Mustard based Low Carb BBQ Sauce….
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup prepared yellow mustard
1/2 cup granular Splenda
3/4 cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon liquid smoke flavoring
DIRECTIONS:
In a saucepan over medium heat, stir together the mustard, sweetener, cider vinegar, chili powder, black pepper, white pepper, and cayenne pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
Stir in the soy sauce, butter, and liquid smoke; simmer for 10 more minutes. Cool completely, and refrigerate overnight to blend flavors before using.
Tomato based Low Carb BBQ sauce
INGREDIENTS:
1 minced shallot,
1 small can of tomato sauce,
2 cups of water,
¼ cup of apple cider vinegar (one with no sugar),
¼ cup of Kikkoman low sodium soy sauce,
1/4tsp paprika,
1/4tsp chili powder,
1/4tsp cinnamon,
1/4tsp cloves,
1/4tsp liquid smoke
Little shot of Jack Daniels never hurt….(but only a little)
salt and pepper all to taste.
Place all of the ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Then lower the heat and simmer for around 15 minutes. All done and you have a low carb barbeque sauce that everyone at your dinner party is sure to love. Of course you can adjust if you are serving seafood, beef, pork, chicken or plain hamburgers.
