question about lemons

I  am going to be making a recipe soon that takes 1/4 cup lemon juice...Sorry if I sound duh, but can you get that much out of a lemon by squeezing it?  If not, can you buy lemon juice?

Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only TRUE FRIENDS will leave footprints in your heart...And may that friendship have such a ONENESS that when one weeps the other will taste salt...Friends are like balloons ; once you let them go you can't get them back....So I'm going to tie you to my heart so I never lose you.

I wouldn't buy lemon juice, I would squeeze a few lemons until I got the proper amount of juice.  A lot of the prebought juice has stuff in it that changes the taste thus makng a dish taste different....and sometimes the "different" taste can ruin the hard workand the money you put into the dish.  Make sure before you cut the lemon, you roll it under your hand against the counter with some moderate pressure, then slice it, then squeeze it.....  that helps you extract more than just cutting and squeezing it!)

Hope that helps...

I'm one of those people who buy lemon juice. I also buy mine in the little yellow lemons on the fruit section of the grocery store. I've never since a different taste in recipes. My future mom-inlaw buys the big bottles of lemon juice. I've never used it. If you have a garbage disposal buy the fresh lemons and then grind the used lemons (after being sqeezed) in the disposal to give your kitchen a nice smell. Best of luck! Christine (internetnut)

the other thing that gets  more juice is to pop lemon in microwave for 10-15 seconds.  That bursts the little cell membranes in the lemon and gives you a lot more juice.

My thought would be that, if it calls for alot of lemon juice then use 1/4 to 1/2 of the juice needed as fresh and the other part bottled  or squeeze juice. The small bit of fresh kicks up the part of squeeze bottle making it all taste fresh. I have done it for years.  Also the microwave idea is what alot of the cooks use on Food Network. So my red hat friend is exactly correct!!

I just saw that it is calling for only 1/4 cup....You can get that easy out of about 2 lemons...but use the microwave idea.
