Ziplock Omlets

Someone asked about the ziplock omlets.  Here is the recipe that I have.  We do them when my grandkids are here and they love 'em.

ZIPLOC OMELET (This works great !!! Good for when all your family is together.  The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet !!!) Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker. Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them. Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc. Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up. Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water. Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed. Nice to serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake; everyone gets involved in the process and a great conversation piece. You can freeze the mixture and just cook them as needed.

I'm going to try this is the morning. I'm so excited!! My hubby gets up pretty early for School so this is going to be ideal. Even he can't screw this up (hopefully.)

I used a quart size and you could use a pint I think.

The ziploc bag doesn't melt? This is a great idea I will have to try. Thanks!

I did this yesterday morning and this morning. My family loves them and everyone can have what they want on their own omelet and everyone eats at the same time, which is really great! I use the regular ziploc storage bags, quart size. They don't melt in the pot. Great idea, whoever came up w/ it!

Vera,  this is one great idea!  I hadn't heard of it before and just got to thinking about it and this is what I need to do next camping trip!  I already did the hobo dinners individually in tin foil and this is gonna be a great way to keep my cooler organized!

Thanks Vera!
