Cabbage Lasagne

If you like Lasagne and don't want the carbs from the noodles.  Try this: We use boiled cabbage leaves instead of noodles to cut carbs.
My wife makes it with cooked cabbage leaves and browned hamburger. Layer as you would otherwise and bake.  We like it with Prego with sausage if you can get it, and cottage cheese and american cheese. Season with Italian seasoning. Minced onion if you like.

This is NUMMY!

It is a big hit at our house. Low carb.

I've made lasagna with zucchini (great too) but haven't tried it with cabbage...I'm giving it a go this week but just to make things fun for my 5 year old I’m going to make it with both red and green cabbage.  Thanks for the recommendation!

Kim, Another big hit with our daughter of 14 is to use the cabbage leaves when you make them for the cabbage lasagne. Save some of the boiled leaves and roll up browned hambuger and make  Cabbage rolls. Put in some rice if you like and then put Ketchup or Prego on the outside and bake. Danielle, our daughter, loves them and I do to. The hamburger and rice and spaghettic sauce goes together so well.  I'm getting hungry just thinking of it.  Try the rolls, you might like them, too!! Talk to you later, Kim.

Another way to make it that's delicious is with eggplant.  You can either buy Trader Joe's eggplant cutlets (very very lightly breaded) or make your own cutlets.

I am going to have to try this. Sounds great. Try the Cabbage Rolls I mentioned in the post above too!  Our daughter asks us to make them often. It is nice to see kids liking something that is not traditional. Thanks for your idea, too.

Thanks for sharing the recipe. The two things I love the most combined.

James, the "cabbage rolls" as you call them are called "golumpki's" - traditional Polish cuisine at it's finest (ok maybe that's a biased statement but it is my absolute favorite ever.)

Shauna,
I didn't know what they were called.  My wife came up with this because I didn't want the carbs from the noodles.  Thanks for you reply.
