I just found this site. On one of the other sites I saw a post of different types of smoothies and like a dummy I did not print them out and now I can't find it. Can anyone give me a recipe for fruit smoothies or any kind of smoothie with protein? Any help is very much appreciated.

Recipe - Protein Shakes

The sky's the limit The trick is to find a basic flavored powder like vanilla or chocolate protein powder that you find palatable and then spruce it up. You can add a little more of this or that to suit your taste. Everyone's taste buds are different, so what may be good to one person, may not be good to another!

Hints:

·          You can use water or milk to make your shake.  Milk will give you added protein.  Hood’s Carb Countdown mill has 12 grams of protein in 8oz.

·          Almond extract helps disguise the taste strong protein taste of some powders.

General strategy for making smoothies.

Put all ingredients except protein into blender. Blend on high until no more pings from ice on blades.  Turn down blender until top of mixture is moving but not splashing.  Add protein powder and replace cover and blend a few seconds.   Mixing the protein too much causes it to foam and increase the volume of your drink.

Notes:  FF (Fat Free)    SF (Sugar Free)

Basic Drink Recipe

In a blender put

½ **** (crushed if you can)

enough water to cover the ice

1-2 scoops or protein powder

Now the variations...  Add any of the following to change the flavor of your drink

·          SF Jello powder

·          SF pudding powder

·          Cold Decaf Coffee

·          SF Café Da Vita (French Vanilla or Mocha) you can find this in the grocery store coffee aisle.

·          General foods international sugar free Coffees or Chai Latte

·          Torani or Divinci Sugar Free syrups

·          SF Tang

·          Crystal Light powder

·          1 tsp cream cheese

·          1tsp sour cream

·          Cinnamon

·          Frozen fruit

·          Peanut butter

·          Baking Extracts (Vanilla, Almond, etc)

Hot Protein Drinks

Protein powder will clump if it’s too hot.  So it’s best to use Hot tap water or heat your water/milk to about 130 degrees

For step by step instruction to make a Hot protein Drink.  http://store.bariatriceating.com/howtomamahot.html

·          SF Swiss Miss hot chocolate mix (w/marshmallows) and I add a 1/2 scoop of protein powder

·          Chocolate protein powder mixed with Milk or water

·          Café Latte – Vanilla protein powder and Coffee (use brewed Coffee or instant Coffee crystals)

·          Café Mocha – Chocolate protein powder and Coffee.  Add SF flavored syrups like hazelnut.

Protein Coffee Recipe

2 cups Water

2 scoops instant coffee crystals

1 cup Milk

1-2 scoops vanilla protein powder

1 scoop SF cocoa powder (hot chocolate mix)

SF syrup (try hazelnut or irish cream)

In a big plastic cup, mix water and coffee and and microwave for two minutes.

In a blender, blend Milk & Protein on low until well mixed (no lumps)

Add the chocolate and syrup to the coffee mix and stir well.

Add the protein mix to the coffee while stirring.

Put it in your ‘to go’ mug and hit the road.

Note: It sounds like a ton of trouble, but If you have everything ready to go and it takes only minutes to do the whole thing. Faster than a McDonalds drive thru and LOTS more protein!!!  Don’t forget to rinse out the blender immediately or the protein powders becomes like cement (recipe from Kristine)
