What's wrong with my falafel balls?

This is the first time I've tried falafel mix and the balls just seem to disintegrate in the oil. All I got now is a pan full of (very yummy) falafel slurry. What did I do wrong?

Thank you very much for the link! That helped indeed. The next time I'll try the hints suggested there (thicker batter, less oil)
