I am trying to avoid both Equal and Splenda. It seems to be in everything.
I recently learned about Stevia. It is a plant that is naturally sweet. I found it at The Vitamin shoppe here in town. I haven't checked out the health food stores or natural food stores yet. GNC might also have it available. Stevia can be substituted for any sweetener in a recipe. Food Network has low calorie and low carbohydrate recipes on their site. I plan to find a vanilla pudding recipe on their site so I can replace the sweetener with stevia.
I hope this will help you.
THANKS. I KEEP FORGETTING ABOUT STEVIA. I WILL GET SOME TODAY. MY PROBLEM IS I REALLY DON'T LIKE SWEET THINGS. I GUESS I COULD BAKE THEM WITH SOME DILUTED APPLE JUICE, CINNAMON, A LITTLE STEVIA, AND I FOUND REDUCED SUGAR, BROWN SUGAR WITH NO ARTIFICAL SWEETNERS. HOW DOES THAT SOUND? THANKS AGAIN FOR THE TIP

Please let me know if you find anything that gives the flavor of brown sugar without using artificial sweetener or sugar. I watch my glucose levels and avoid the "bad" carbs. I also avoid Equal and Splenda.
I don't use any of the above items, nor splenda. All I would use is an apple or two, cut them in half, sprinkle just with cinnamon, and bake them in a skillet in the oven for awhile, until they were done.
it was delicious, nutritious and tasty. I have actually never heard of using soda or anything else before this!
Good luck! it's so hard to find tasty healthy snacks..but we can always help here!
