I use a copycat recipe for Wendy's Chili.   I have it posted on my blog: http://pamtremble.blogspot.com/2008/02/wendys-chili-homemade -version.html I usually substitue the ground beef with turkey and add sliced mushrooms.  And instead of using fresh tomatoes, I always use canned.  It's delicious! My chili is a little different every time I make it. I keep a variety of canned beans in my pantry, throw some in a pot with some diced stewed tomatoes, and lightly sauteed onions and garlic, top the finished product with cheese and the whole family is always happy. I have found the biggest single item for chili success is Cumin. A generous amount of Cumin. I have used a variety of seasoning packets. There have been plenty we didn't like - ones that are too salty, or the spicier ones that are *just* spicy, not flavorful - but that's totally personal. If you're feeling adventurous, give it a try!

I use Carroll Shelby's Chili mix (comes in a brown paper bag). I love it & always have at least one bag on hand!! I don't usually use pre-packaged seasoning mixes but I love this one... the salt comes in a separate packet & you can make it as spicy as you like!!!  Here is his website - I can get it in my local grocery store & make it with either ground beef or turkey & I add kidney beans for extra protein!!! Give it a shot!!  http://www.carrollshelbyschili.com/home/index.cfm Cece
