I have a couple of questions for you guys...

First of all I found a big pecan tree near my house and thousands of what seem to be perfect pecans. ( No holes, worms, rot...). Are these safe to eat? I licked one of the nuts and it tasted good? ( OK...that sounded dirty...)

Secondly...what can I make with them? I know pralines but what else?

The most healthy way is to eat them right out of the shell, you can roast them with some salt if you like but I love them plain.  You could add them to the peanut butter cookie that is full of protein anyway that will just add more without adding any more fat or calories.  You could add them to salad, jellos and chicken salad.   I hope that helps give you some good ideas.  Good luck and pass the nuts hummmm good. They are safe to eat.  You can even freeze them (both in or out of the shell).  I like to make sf low fat cheesecakes and add them into the crust.  They can be added to cottage cheese pancakes, lots and lots of things.   Lisa

Check out the Hot and Spicy Pecan recipes on www.allrecipes.com  I usually buy them in Whole Foods for a small fortune.  This sounds like the same ones.  Delish as Rachael would say.
