Sorry Kaley, but these don't sound very healthy at all! I'd replace the sugar with Splenda and use a SF chocolate chip, maybe even a whole wheat flour.

Those were the exact same changes I was thinking of too! Do you think it would ruin the texture to use a diet type margarine spread instead of the butter? I love the idea of a cookie now and then. Maybe a vanilla protein powder could even be subsituted for part of the flour. Sounds like a good treat! Molly

I have to agree, they don't sound very healthy or good for WLS patients. The nutrition information does not sound correct. The carbs sound off to me. -- Dee

Thank you for the recipe, Kaley. It looks like a very good base for some changes that those of us with RNY would have to make. The fat might bother us and I for one am not letting white flour back into my life just because it causes me out of control cravings. It's only my choice and not a surgical necessity of course. How many cookies does this batch make? This will be fun to try sometime this fall when I get another baking session urge. Molly...ps, good luck with your DS pursuit! crossing fingers for you XX

I can't remember how many the recipe makes - didn't write it down.

I know the recipe is not the best health-wise but I figured people could alter it as they knew how. I am still learning how to alter recipes so I didn't want to screw up the recipe by giving you my feeble attempts at alteration. I figured those of you who are bakers would know how to do it much better than me and would want the original recipe to work from. Sorry if I screwed y'all up or caused problems. It was posted in sincerity.

Kaley, no problems. The recipe sounds like something I would have loved before WLS, now I just will not allow myself to eat those things. It's my choice. I think it could be adapted to a healthier recipe, and I might try making them soon. I'm a huge banana fan, not so much a chocolate fan though. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for posting! They sound really good. I am going to have to make them for my dad. Not everyone does healthy all the time so some people need to learn to be nicer when people are sharing ideas. Thanks again for posting!
